Nevada's wow schedule

It sure seems that a lot of coaches are always whining about the difficulty of filling out a schedule because the 'bigs' and even some of the mid-majors won't go on the road unless either special circumstances exist or a coach has an anybody, anywhere, anytime mentality.

Well, Mark Fox is still working his Wolf Pack schedule for next year but the pieces he already has in place are astounding. Give this coach a tip of the cap as Nevada fans are in for quite a treat.

Finalizing the Wolf Pack's basketball schedule has taken somewhat of a Herculean effort the last two seasons. In both years, the schedule wasn't finished until early October, with the season beginning about a month later. Well, that doesn't figure to be the case this year. The majority of the team's schedule is already etched in stone, with only a few open slots remaining. Below are the team's scheduled games thus far.

Anonymous said...: I suppose it is easier for them to get high majors in now, as they are less concerned about picking up a bad loss. That team's great run with Snyder, Fazekas, Kemp, Sessions may have contributed to big dogs not wanting to come to town. Even with McGee leaving, the fright of a bad loss is less. I know they have some good recruits, but UNC has no chance of losing a game in Reno. That wasn't the case two years ago.; May 20, 2008 at 4:33 PM

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
