No posts with label August, 2009: Johnson is one of the biggest surprises of the summer. He certainly doesn't pass the look test, but he can definitely play at the Division I level. He is a left-handed combo-guard that is very deceptive at both ends. He is very explosive in transition and can finish with an emphatic dunk on a consistent basis. He has a clever handle, terrific vision, and has the overall savvy to play the one at the next level. His jump shot needs to improve to keep defenses honest, however. His release is a tad slow (mechanical) and his shot is not as consistent as it needs to be for the Division I level. In addition, he'll need to gain upper body strength (struggled getting through screens) to be a lock-down defender, but he does possess the necessary lateral quickness and anticipation. As Johnson continues to get stronger and develop his jump shot, the tools are there for a solid college career.. Show all posts
