With experience comes expectations.
Last year, the New Mexico State men's basketball team was a group of talented young players who hadn't proven anything yet.
This year is a different story. Sophomores are now seasoned juniors and senior guard Jonathan Gibson enters his third year as a starter.
Junior guard Gordo Castillo said the Aggies carried the momentum of a run to the Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinals into the offseason.
"Since I live here I was here most of the time, but a lot of the guys didn't go back home for awhile," Castillo said. "They would go home for a little bit and come right back. Guys were committed this year and we got a lot of good runs in."
The first official practice of the 2009 season starts on Friday at 5 p.m. across the nation. The Aggies will practice once on Friday and then go twice on Saturday and Sunday...
