A Damon Powell update

Just confirmed with Los Medanos College Coach Derek Domenichelli that McClymonds High star and Fresno State recruit Damon Powell is attending Los Medanos which is in Pittsburgh, CA.

We don't know the specifics here but typically if a player is a non-qualifier then he or she must earn their A.A. degree before transferring to a D-1 college.

Since 2001, Los Medanos men's basketball has a 100% graduation rate of second year student-athletes so that certainly bodes well for Powell. Domenichelli's squad went 24-10 last season, 12-4 in the Bay Valley Conference.

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
