Jason Groves on the Aggie points

There has been a revolving door at the point guard position in Marvin Menzies' first two seasons at New Mexico State.

Fred Peete, Chris Cole, Jaydee Luster, Johnny Higgins, Terrence Joyner either graduated, transferred or were jettisoned at times throughout Menzies' first two years.

Hernst Laroche provided stability last year as a freshman, finishing 18th in the country with a 2.48 assist-to-turnover ratio, which was second among NCAA freshmen...

Last week, we ranked the top seniors, juniors and sophomores in the WAC. This week, we will take a look at the top players in the conference by position, listing one per team. We will start at the point guard position and post one per day through the end of the week.

Ranking the WAC point guards

1. Mac Hopson, Idaho, 16.4 ppg, 5.9 apg: Hopson led all WAC point guards in points, assists and 3-point percentage last season and finished second in steals and rebounds, so it's hard not to put him atop the list. But beyond the statistics, he became the Vandals' driving force in his first season at Idaho after transferring from Washington State, galvanizing one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation...
