Hawaii has offered a D.C. backcourter

Bob Nash and Hawaii have broken the proverbial ice by being the first to offer 6-foot-2 backcourter Donte Thomas, out of Ballou High School in Washington D.C.

He's apparently a combo guard -- his numbers per game last season: 20 points & 7 assists.

This February 2009 article mentions interest from New Mexico State.

Here's an article about him being named to the All Beltway First Team squad.

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
