This is venturing into dangerous territory -- wondering why a certain player isn't hearing from any of the teams comprising the WAC. But we'll step into it anyway:
Recruiting is comprised of so many separate factors:
* wants and needs next season and/or further down the line
* class and roster balance
* what prospects will consider which offers
* cost of out-of-state or foreign schollies versus can the same potential be found locally, regionally or statewide
* ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY
and many, many more.
But how many teams are always wanting for better point guard play?
That brings us to Avery Johnson of Ocean View High in Huntington Beach, CA. He's leading his very successful squad in scoring (17.5), assists (4.9) and steals (2.5) and it's a roster that includes Stanford-bound Anthony Brown.
Johnson is 6-foot-3, athletic, rarely turns the ball over and his shooting percentages are better this season.
But interest in Johnson is perking up -- he is tripping to Portland this weekend. Pacific is desiring his services. Oregon and Boston College have come of late to southern California to check out Johnson.
We have no idea what Johnson's recruiting parameters are but it sure seems there are a few WAC schools that would fit, and vice versa.
Is there something we are missing?
