Saturday: five game previews as conference play begins

Each game features a newcomer to the WAC versus a holdover.

Texas State hosts San Jose State University.

Bobcat athletics and Spartan athletics preview. Randy Stevens also take a look.

It should be a fast-paced, high scoring game -- Texas State is second in the WAC in scoring, SJSU fourth -- so who be be the hottest and who will defend best?

Neither squad plays power ball inside as Tech wants to play fast and Denver will be content to run its offense. Call this one the pairing to watch tonight because of the contrast in styles.

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
