Fresno State player Rekalin Sims received some very good news yesterday as felony charges against him were dropped by the presiding judge. The DA's office may re-file but that seems unlikely unless further evidence is produced, which also seems unlikely.
Coach Steve Cleveland could certainly use Sims on his frontline but the Fresno State Code of Conduct committee must first meet and decide on Sim's reinstatement and then Cleveland will make his own decision. Whether or not Sims' driving on a suspended license will be a factor in his possible return is unknown.
Let's hope the young man has learned a valuable lesson here about the company one keeps and is able to enjoy a productive senior season.Charges dropped against Sims

Fresno County Superior Court Judge James Oppliger dismissed felony robbery charges against Fresno State basketball player Rekalin Sims on Thursday.
Sims had been charged with second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, but Oppliger said during a preliminary hearing that there was insufficient evidence to establish a strong suspicion of guilt against Sims and discharged the 23-year-old.
Sims, who sat with an emotionless stare in the court room prior to the ruling, stood and gave defense attorney Ernest Kinney a hug after the ruling. Sims left the courtroom in a daze, unsure of what exactly had occurred. Minutes later though, as he spoke on his cell phone, he finally cracked a broad smile.
Sims said he was pleased Oppliger acted quickly on the case. Sims was charged Nov. 15 in connection with the alleged robbery near Fresno State on Nov. 11. He was suspended indefinitely from the basketball team after being charged...
