Rivals' Jerry Meyers is reporting that Kerry Rupp and LA TECH have received a commitment from 6-foot-3 backcourter Alex Carr, out of Minor High in Birmingham, Alabama.
ESPN offers this evaluation and also lists him as 6-foot-2 and 190:
Strengths
Carr is a steady shooting guard that understands how to score within the team concept. He has a nice stroke and good range on his jump shot. He plays with the confidence of a shooter and is fearless when the game is on the line. He has shown the ability to go on some amazing scoring runs.
Weaknesses:
Carr is a tough kid and is not afraid of a defensive challenge, but has a tendency to gamble for steals that allow his opponent open opportunities. He has the athletic ability to be a good defender at the collegiate level and should be able to defend multiple positions with improved focus.
Bottom Line:
Carr is a solid mid-major shooting guard prospect that, because of his shooting ability, will have a chance to contribute right away.
