Not that it matters any longer because he quickly (re)signed with St. Bonaventure after departing from Marquette but we stumbled across another Brett Roseboro article while looking for something else and a couple of items in it jumped out at us.
Our jaw dropped at this paragraph: "...According to Roseboro, shortly after he signed with Marquette, head coach Buzz Williams told him that he had never seen him play and made a mistake recruiting wise. "He (Coach Williams) said that instead of me sitting out a year or not playing and then transferring, that I should transfer," said Roseboro..."
How does a head coach, especially a relatively new one, agree to offer a basketball scholarship to a recruit he never saw play? Yes, head coaches do tire of the recruiting road and begin to cut corners but Williams was hired at Marquette in April, 2008 and shouldn't be in any sort of 'weary' stage as yet. Wow.
The second item confirmed that Nevada did indeed offer:
"...Roseboro says he still has interest from schools but said some of them, he's never heard from until now. "St. Bonaventure, Temple and Nevada have offered," said Roseboro. "I was thinking of going back to prep but my Mom's been in my ear, telling me I shouldn't do that..."
That paragraph is confusing and makes it impossible to determine if Nevada was there earlier or new to the chase.
The above cut-n-pastes are from a Jerry Meyer-penned article at NYCHoops.com and a Rivals sub is required.
