Deremy Geiger's new home

Thanks to SeldomSeenSmith (at the Utah State SCOUT site message board), the new home for now former USU point Deremy Geiger is now known:

Deremy Geiger
Transferred to Grayson County JC in Texas.

Can any of you Utah State fans fill us in on why Geiger didn't click in Logan (besides having Jared Quayle in front of him)?

Here is a 2008 ESPN evaluation of Geiger:
One of the quickest guards in the west -- let alone the country -- is Deremy Geiger. Geiger has that rare second gear that enables him to explode in transition and breakdown defenders in the half-court set. He has very good frame with broad shoulders and long arms. His elite speed and quickness allows him to finish impressively in the open court. Most importantly he has a good feel for the point guard position and he sees the floor well in transition as well as in the half-court set. Despite all his impressive intangibles, Geiger has a tendency to play too fast which has made him a tad turnover prone. In addition, his jump shot -- flat in its trajectory -- needs some polishing as well. He has the potential to be a very good defender as well due to his long arms and quick feet. Overall, Geiger should be a fine addition to Utah State (verbal commit) and should see playing time immediately as he continues to hone his skills.

Yeah, Stew drove him nuts...or Stew's style of play didn't work well with Deremy. Neither really budged or gave in.

If Stew's style of play didn't suit Geiger, then why did he transfer to Grayson? Grayson is one of the lowest scoring, slow it down teams in Texas JC ball. If he hated playing for a D1 team that averaged 72 per, then he's really going to hate playing for a JC that averaged 62 per.

A lot of USU fans actually preferred to see him play over Jaxon Myaer. Whenever Myaer stepped on the court, the sighs and moans from the crowd had to be audible on the court. Most would have rather seen Geiger with more PT.

Word is that it was mostly academics.

My hope is that Stew is placing him at Grayson to get his grades in order, then will bring him back after this year. He's far more talented than Myaer or any of the PG's that USU has recruited since his signing last year for that matter.

I highly doubt it is academic.. shouldnt the real question be why did utah state lose four of it's players in one year?(dermey, stavon, dominique and rich). Deremy chose to leave.. nothing about stew.. but i definatley agree i thought his game was better than jaxons anyday.. deremy just never got given a chance, same as those other boys who left, in particular cooks and williams
