Maverick Ahanmisi, the backcourter out of Golden Valley High (CA) will be attending prep school instead of Boise State, per his club team coach Bob Gottlieb. "It was an NCAA Clearinghouse issue that was going to take anywhere from 30-60 days for a ruling to be issued and that was too long," said Gottlieb.
"He's a major league scorer and a great shooter," Gottlieb said of his protégé. "Maverick had a tremendous summer for us, playing in 16 games and doing really well in 15 of them. His best contest was against the Joe Ward All-Stars out of Arizona where he scored 37 points, including 7 three-pointers."
Had Ahanmisi been able to enroll, the plan was for him to redshirt this season.
Per Gottlieb, Ahanmisi could still sign with Boise State come November but nothing is set at this point.
Gottlieb runs the Branch West basketball organization, which includes a number of club teams and a recruiting assistance service. He was the head coach at Jacksonville University as well as at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He also assisted at Creighton, Kansas State, Oregon State and Long Beach State.
