Last week, we ranked the top seniors, juniors and sophomores in the WAC. This week, we will take a look at the top players in the conference by position, listing one per team. We will start at the point guard position and post one per day through the end of the week.Ranking the WAC point guards
1. Mac Hopson, Idaho, 16.4 ppg, 5.9 apg: Hopson led all WAC point guards in points, assists and 3-point percentage last season and finished second in steals and rebounds, so it's hard not to put him atop the list. But beyond the statistics, he became the Vandals' driving force in his first season at Idaho after transferring from Washington State, galvanizing one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation...

Hopson may be the most valuable player in the WAC and, at least for now, I don't think any point guard in the league has come close to pushing him out of the number 1 spot. He's not only the best playmaker of the PGs he's the best scorer of the PGs. I love this guy and if I could pull one player from any WAC team to join the Pack this season it would probably be Hopson. Rolle would be very tempting as well.
I will add, that if there were 1 minute left in the game and the Pack were down by 1pt there's no guard in the WAC I'd rather have bringing the ball up the court than Armon Johnson.
But that's a different discussion.
I think they got the top three right although I am partial to Jared Quayle. His 6 rebounds per game shows a demension that a lot of point guards are lacking.
