Lindy's 2008-2009 forecast

We thought we had published this earlier but a cursory looks indicates no, so here goes:

PTW came across a Lindy's 2008-2009 college basketball magazine so we thumbed through to the WAC section and located these items:

* Predicted Finish

1. Nevada
2. New Mexico State
3. San Jose State
4. Utah State
5. Louisiana tech
6. Fresno State
7. Boise State
8. Hawaii
9. Idaho

The actual order come March 2009:

1. Utah State (that Carroll chap WAS replaceable)
2. Nevada
3. Boise State
4. New Meixco State
5. Idaho
6. Louisiana Tech
7. San Jose State
8. Hawaii
9. Fresno State

Mark Fox and the Wolf Pack received the 'best recruiting' nod based on landing Luke Babbitt, Joey Shaw and Mark McLaughlin.

Of the player additions that season, Babbitt was projected as the 'newcomer who will have the most impact' and the best rebounder' while McLaughlin was labeled the best jumpshooter. The 'best playmaker-passer' was deigned to be Deremy Geiger described thusly: "the Aggies have a player to build around in Geiger."

Troy Gillenwater (is it now His Troyness or just The Gillenwater?) won the 'will take you by surprise' category.

The '#1 signing coup' was Roderick Fleming by Hawaii.

Overall, here were the player picks across the league:

* Player of the Year - Herb Pope

* Top Shooter - Jonathan Gibson

* Top Rebounder - Gary Wilkinson

* Top Defender - Justin g Graham

* Top Playmaker - Anthony Thomas

* Most Versatile - Tai Wesley

* Top NBA Prospect - Herb Pope

* Most Entertaining - Armon Johnson
