Former New Mexico State point DaShawn Gomez, now at Antelope Valley College in southern CA, has given a verbal to Iona. Both Mel Grussing and Adam Zagoria check in with reports.

6-foot-8 Canadian freshman forward Braeden Anderson has been ruled a partial qualifier at Kansas and the end result is he will be departing from Lawrence. PTW doesn't know if New Mexico State has any schollies available but can Marvin Menzies work something with the tuition costs (which Anderson couldn't afford -- $28,000 -- at Kansas)? Anderson originally committed to DePaul but asked for and received his release. Hawaii showed interest earlier.

al said...: that would be a stretch for him to qualify at hawaii, too. the standards for hawaii are pretty stiff as compared to a lot of schools. anyway, picking up standhardinger satisfies the big 3/4 forward for now and scholies may have been tapped out.; September 18, 2011 at 8:14 PM

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
