A note about Damiene Cain

We can't vouch for this and any author's name is absent from the heading but the CalHiSports site recently posted this:

"...Privately [Damiene] Cain told friends that it was between Hawaii and Colorado and that Hawaii was definitely higher on his list then Oregon State, Boston College and San Diego State. If Cain hadn't been forced to cancel his visit at the last minute due to a family conflict who knows if the big man would have eventually chosen the Warriors..".

Finn Man (taking the liberty to offer a nickname) is featured in Chris Murray's latest countdown of the Nevada basketball roster.

Rivals' Adam Gorney offers an update of sorts on Damiene Cain, the SoCal power forward linked to UH as well as a few others. A Rivals sub is required. It's full of ifs, ands and buts so it's hard to tell any leanings but Cain supposedly wants to make his decision next week. He has yet to trip to Hawaii and may not have the time to do so.

Hawaii raising interest in Cain

A report by Adam Munsterteiger at the Buff Stampede site says that CA frontcourter Damiene Cain will be hitting Waikiki on Thursday. The young man indicates Colorado is in the lead so UH fans better get those leis ready and call in a balmy 80 degree temp for late this week. Go here for the article (a Rivals sub is required0.

UH fans, your still in it

We thought Los Angeles area frontcourter Damiene Cain was showing major love for a couple of other schools, leaving Hawaii all dressed up with nowhere to go.

PTW were wrong.

From Eric Sondheimer in today's Los Angeles Tmes, Boston College is wanting to add a fourth southlander to its 2011 recruiting haul in Cain. Colorado also remains the mix but UH does too as Cain has visits set for the latter two.

Now if only Gib Arnold already had an Abel on his roster. Actually scratch that -- the pairing didn't work out so well the first time.

It's a recruiting weekend

It's been pretty much a given but an article this weekend confirm that southern California frotncourter Damiene Cain is deciding among three schools: Boston College, San Diego State and Colorado.

Hawaii made a run at him and offered but Cain has decided to either head south, way back east or go Rocky Mountain high.

MiniStew is reporting at the Utah State Scout basketball message board that one Josh Monroy, all 7-foot-2 of him, was in for a visit to Logan recently. He's a 2011 prospect and a likely redshirt candidate with whatever college coach and program he chooses. Mooney is out of South Dakota. We don't know what to make of his high school squad's 2-18 record last season but we are also unsure how many games Mooney played in 2009-2010..

Per the Rivals Texas basketball site, San Jose State has received a verbal from 6-foot-7 Stephon Smith, a Lone Statr State basketballer doing a prep season at a school in New Jersey. Damon Sayles has an article here, (a Rivals sub is required).
