Tech beats Irvine

Despite being away from Ruston, Louisiana Tech has been enjoying the sights and sounds and the basketball hospitality of Orange. The Bulldogs battled host Irvine Sunday and again came out on top 76-72.

DeAndre Brown paced the way with 26 points and Olu Ashaolu contributed 16. The latter just missed a double-double with his nine rebounds.

LT is now 5-1 on the season.

The Anteaters led 34-30 at the half but were outscored by eight in the second 20 minutes.

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
