Wednesday's roundup of last night, plus more

Host Texas State handled Texas Tyler 86-66 Tuesday night behind frontcourt cornerstone Matt Staff's 28/11 double-double (10-14 shooting). Newcomer and JC transfer Joel Wright scored 19 points and fellow forward Reid Koenen produced 13 points plus eight boards. Vonn Jones passed for six assists.

The Bobcats outscored their opponent by 10 in each half.

In a tale of two halves, visiting Houston jumped out to a 44-26 halftime lead but San Jose State University eventually owned the second 20 minutes although ultimately two points less than the Cougars as the final was 77-75.

Spartan sophomore backcourter DJ Brown paced his squad with 24 points. Teammates James Kinney totaled 19 (but shot 7-23) while forward Chris Cunningham added 15 points.

Louisiana Tech faces Arkansas Little Rock in Ruston tonight.
