Game 1: huh? Games 2 & 3: just fine

Yes, we are late to the games with this one but how could any team with Mac Hopson and Steffan Johnson loses to Texas Southern? Of course, how could any team with a player named Whitworth Treasure be contained?

All the following courtesy of WAC SPORTS:

Texas Southern 72, Idaho 65

HOUSTON -- Whitworth Treasure scored 21 points and Texas Southern rallied in the second half to beat Idaho 72-65 Sunday night.

Treasure scored 14 of his points in the final 20 minutes when the Tigers (1-1) outscored the Vandals 42-33.

Mac Hopson led Idaho (1-1) with 14 points, and Kashif Watson added 13...
At least one answer to the first question posed above is 18 Vandal turnovers and two assists -- that is not a typo. Maybe there were visions of sugarplums in Idaho's eyes -- actually, as with all WAC teams, execution is the key to success and Don Verlin's squad was missing it.

Boise State 75, North Dakota 60
MISSOULA, Mont. -- Paul Noonan sank six 3-pointers and scored 23 points to lead Boise State to a 75-60 victory over North Dakota on the final day of the Grizzly Tournament Sunday.

Daequon Montreal added 11 points off the bench and anchored an aggressive trapping defense that forced 14 North Dakota turnovers in the final 20 minutes. Tied 32-32 at the half, the Broncos' suffocating backcourt pressure and running game helped them open up a 60-45 lead with 9 minutes 50 seconds remaining...
But Anthony Thomas still seems not quite there with eight points (3-8 from the floor), a very nice eight assists but six turnovers.

Hawai‘i 73, McNeese State 65
HONOLULU (AP) -Dwain Williams scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half to lift Hawaii to a 73-65 win over McNeese State on Sunday night in the Rainbow Classic.

Williams shot 7 of 16 from the field and made 4 of 12 3-pointers.

Hawaii (2-0) shot 46.8 percent (22 of 47) for the game and 73.3 percent (22 of 30) from the free-throw line. McNeese State (0-2) did not attempt a free throw...
Maybe the McNeese defensive design was to limit Roderick Flemings touches but Coach Bob Nash surely wants him putting up more than nine shots. On the other hands, UH won with just such taking place and the team assists were spread out quite well among the players.
