Marcus Williams connected to Boise State -- not NMSU

Former New Mexico prepster Marcus Williams, now finishing up at Cochise College in Arizona, has offers from Creighton and Sam Houston State and also spring attention from Boise State, per Matt Perrault at the The Blue Jay Cafe.

Playing for Coach Jerry Carrillo, the 5-foot-10 Williams averaged 18.4 points per game last season in an up-tempo offensive and defensive style. This season, he was awarded First Team Division 1 All-American honors.by the NJCAA after putting in 20.6 points a contest. He shot 44.7% overall, 25.5% from long distance and 67.4% at the foul line, with 2.2 assists and 2.1 steals a game.

With two years of eligibility remaining, it's critical Williams choose a situation where he has the opportunity of earning solid playing time. New Mexico State fans would like him to return home to join the Aggie backcourt but that doesn't appear to be happening.

By the way, Coach Bob Martin recently left Sam Houston State for Louisiana - Lafayette so he may transfer his Williams attention to his new school.

Let's see if Boise offers -- something that doesn't seem likely after Leon Rice received a verbal from Tre' Nichols, a 5-foot-11 junior college player out of Texas.

This article is full of a lot of wrong information. Matt Perrault has not spoken to Marcus or anyone in Marcus' camp......FYI the coach from Boise was let go.
