A late Tuesday entry with scores and links

In what the Aggies hoped would be a bounceback game, New Mexico State hosted rival New Mexico but fell in a high scoring match 97-87. Coach Marvin Menzies' group went down early -- 52-36 after the initial 20 minutes -- came back to take a small lead but fell behind once again.

Jason Groves/Las Cruces Sun-News blogged the game here.

NMSU was out-boarded by five, 36-31, plus Steve Alford's team shot close to 50% overall (32-65) and 46% (12-26) from long range. Jahmar Young finished with 26, including an astounding 14-16 from the foul line. Jonathan Gibson went 5-8 with his three-point attempts and ended up with 17. Hamidu Rahman (4-10) struggled again at the foul line as did Robert Lumpkins from long distance (0-6).

This one was different from St. Mary's in that it was winnable. Wendell McKines and Troy Gillenwater are obviously being missed as the Aggie bench is too inexperienced to really help right now.

Fresno State topped Northern Arizona 65-59. Sylvester Seay led the way with 22 points and Paul George added a double-double of 15 markers plus 10 rebounds (and five turnovers). NAU benefitted by going 7-14 on three-pointers as both teams shot well in the first half but struggled in the second..
