A Wednesday p.m. WAC basketball offering

At the risk of having zero to post tomorrow, here's a Wednesday night WAC basketball report:

The headline of this Diamond Lueng ESPN piece is a great jumping off point for discussion. Yes, Utah State lost a lot of talent, experience and cohesiveness but there is still The Spectrum, Stew Morrill and The System. The Wolf Pack, despite the highest level of star talent in the WAC, must still prove a winning record is attainable and New Mexico State usually has a negative surprise or two pop up prior to the season. If we are talking tag or hoops, USU is still 'it' regardless.

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
