You get some blingy award if you recall this name: Titus Rubles

Does the names Titus Rubles ring any sort of bell for you, Nevada fans especially?

It was a year ago that Rubles was talking Nevada (and other schools), signed with Oral Roberts but it looks like academics detoured him to the junior college route. After a successful freshman year, he's returning to the Lone Star State. Brad Winton has the scoop:

"Titus Rubles (6-8, 205/PF) will be leaving Independence CC (KS) and heading to Blinn College in Texas for his sophomore year. Rubles averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game this season and was named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region and Jayhawk Conference Freshman of the Year"

Rubles was named Freshman of the Year, First Team All Leagu and All Region.

PTW has no idea if any sparks of interest -- either way -- remain between the young man and Nevada but we duly note that "Coach Carter" is Rubles' favorite film..

student4ever said...: As of right now, Nevada already has plans for 7 players who will be juniors in the 2012-2013 season with Burton, Evans, Panzer, Elliott, Burris, Finn and verbal commit Rafael Carter out of Diablo Valley CC. The only way we will add Rubles is if something negative happens with Panzer or Elliott. Carter has said he is looking for high school players for next year.; July 8, 2011 at 6:11 AM

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
