Louisiana Tech fan on Magnum Rolle

We get notes from various fans of the various WAC teams containing a wide variety of comments, declarations and the like. Some excoriate us for our lack of or intermittent brainwave activity, others think we are the cat's meow, plus we also get some suggestions (for stories that is). We look for some level of objectivity within the mosh pit of fan-dom in whatever is sent and our tendency is to overlook those messages that proclaim so-and-so as the best ever, that Team A will cruise through undefeated in the WAC and so on.

(here is Rolle blocking a shot)

But there are exceptions and we are a believer in longtime LA TECH fan Scott Killen.

With his permission, here part of what he recently emailed:

"This might be a cause for concern for the rest of the WAC...I finally got a real good look at him [Magnum Rolle] Saturday night. The guy is an absolute FREAK of an athlete. I honestly thought he had been over-hyped before I saw him. He will be a match-up nightmare on a nightly basis in the WAC..."

We're still baffled that Rolle didn't generate a spot on the All-WAC second team previews or at least some mention as a player to watch. Now maybe we are wrong, maybe Scott is wrong and we'll each gladly admit such if we are incorrect is our assessments.

But if we're right...

WAC basketball is really headed in the right direction. LTU is putting together some great players, NMSU has great young talent, with Nevada's current young players plus the great recruiting class next year they will have their best teams ever beginning next year or the year after. Stew will always field a good product, Fresno is due to get good again and even SJSU is moving forward. WAC basketball may be nearing a great period barring coaching defections and NBA early entries. The NBA is definitely hurting the Wolf Pack in the short term.
