Utah State’s Tai Wesley has been named the Verizon Western Athletic  Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec.  27-Jan. 2. The honor marks the fourth career WAC Player of the Week  award for Wesley.
Wesley, a senior forward from Provo, Utah  (Provo HS), led Utah State to a pair of WAC home wins last week against  Hawai‘i (74-66) and San Jose State (80-71). Against the Rainbow  Warriors, Wesley posted his fourth double-double of the season and 13th  of his career as he tied his career-high with 27 points to go along with  13 rebounds. Wesley, who played a career-high 38 minutes in the game,  was 8-of-12 from the field and a perfect 11-of-11 at the free throw  line, tying a single-game school record for free-throw percentage.  Against the Spartans, Wesley added 16 points, eight rebounds, four  assists and three blocks as he was 5-of-6 from the field and 6-of-8 at  the free throw line.
On the week, Wesley averaged 21.5 points,  10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. He shot 72.2 percent  (13-of-18) from the field and 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the free  throw line.
