Casey Olson writes about prodigal son Isiah Umipig returning home. He scored 13.5 points per game last season (third on the team) while shooting 43%, 40% and 87% respectively, He grabbed 2.7 rebounds and passed for 2.3 assists a contest. Umipig also was on the floor for the most minutes each time out (33.6) and started every contest for Fullerton.
Definitely a good pickup but anyone know why he chose to depart? Yes, the Titans had at least a couple of other backcourters redshirting but any major reduction in minutes per game seems unlikely.
PTW did find this item in USA TODAY: "Cal State Fullerton's season ended in turmoil after a rumored locker room uprising resulted in two players leaving the team before the Titans played Loyola Marymount in the opening round of the CIT. Sophomore G Isiah Umipig and senior G Orlando Brown both "opted out of the game," according to a team press release. Umipig started and played a key role for the Titans this season, averaging 13.3 points per game to earn All-Big West honorable mention. He was second in the Big West in 3-point goals and ranked among the top 10 in scoring, field-goal percentage and 3-point percentage."
