Ben Mills released by Boise State

As expected, Boise State Coach Leon Rice has released Wisconsin prepster Ben Mills from the letter-of-intent Mills signed back in November (when Greg Graham was still coach). Mills says BSU is still under consideration but, even removing the cynical fibers from our being (or at least making a valiant attempt to do so), Boise sure seems unlikely to be his college destination -- even though it and the WAC would be a good fit.

Attention NCAA Division I coaches … Ben Mills is back on the market.
 

Mills was granted a release from his letter of intent to play at Boise State University Thursday with the one stipulation that he cannot sign with another school from the Western Athletic Conference.
 

 “Ben got his release from Boise State on Thursday night,” said Ritchie Davis, who coached Mills with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU program the past several years. “Ben is open to hearing from all schools, and my phone has been ringing off the hook concerning Ben. It could get even crazier once this news hits.”
 

A 7-foot-1 post player who averaged 17.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per contest while leading Arrowhead to a 25-3 record and the WIAA Division 1 state championship, Mills earned first-team all-state honors from both the Associated Press and Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association...
