Record: 15-1, 3-0
Last week’s rank: 1
Last game: Beat NMSU, 77-67, in Las Cruces

Next: Thursday vs. Fresno State

Comment: Like Nevada, Utah State swept its Ruston-Las Cruces road swing. Despite not playing too difficult a schedule, that 15-1 record is impressive enough for the Aggies to start earning some votes in the Top 25 polls.

2. Boise State
Record: 12-3, 3-0
Last week’s rank: 2
Last game: Beat Hawaii, 54-49, in Boise

Next: Thursday at Nevada

Comment: Tough to gauge Boise State after two wins over Hawaii and one over San Jose State, but the Broncos retained its offensive efficiency from last season while ramping up the defense (41.1 FG percent defense is tops in WAC)...

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
