A very early Nevada - NC game summary followed by our notes

Chris Murray will certainly have it covered soon enough but here's an abbreviated AP game writeup and then a few notes we jotted down while viewing the game.

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Tyler Hansbrough scored 22 points to lead top-ranked North Carolina to a 84-61 victory over Nevada on Wednesday night and keep the Tar Heels undefeated with a school-record 13th straight win by double figures.

Wayne Ellington added 15 points and Ty Lawson had 11 points and seven assists for North Carolina (13-0), which trailed early but put together a 10-1 run midway through the first half capped by Hansbrough's 3-pointer to take control of the game.

Freshman Luke Babbitt had 22 points, Armon Johnson 15 and Malik Cooke 13 for Nevada (7-6), which trailed 41-27 at the half and shot only 35 percent from the field on the game...

Here's our notes:

*** Give Luke Babbitt a 6-10 240 center who is an offensive threat to team up with and opposing coaches will be gray before their time.

*** Malik Cooke sure is active ... it's imperative to block him out or you'll pay the price ... but his shot sure is, shall we say unattractive.

*** Maybe it's the hangover (had to work that in somewhere!) due to the missed practices while on suspension but Brandon Fields was nowhere to be found tonight. Our pre-season selection of Fields to the All-WAC Second Team may come back to haunt us.

*** Early on, the game announcers made mention that Nevada wasn't intimidated. Mark Fox's teams don't play intimidated but besides, it's not like North Carolina administers a physical pounding to opponents -- the Tarheels run you into oblivion.

*** Tyler Hansborough is hard to defend for multiple reasons but one certainly is his ability to imitate Gumby when shooting inside. How do you not foul someone who is Mr. Unorthodox offensively?

*** Speaking of Hansborough, Babbitt did push him away a bit too obviously in the situation where he got called for an offensive foul -- sometimes it's simply a matter of what a play looks like. But then Hansborough's flop at the 6:30 mark was hilarious -- did Babbitt even touch him on that one?

*** You have to give credit to Danny Green for that great block on Fields' layup attempt. It was clean.
