Let's riff off the official selections for the All-WAC teams:
First Team
Luke Babbitt, Nevada, F, 6-9, 225, So.
Jahmar Young, New Mexico State, G, 6-4, 180, Jr.
Adrian Oliver, San Jose State, G, 6-4, 210, Jr.
Jared Quayle, Utah State, G, 6-1, 180, Sr.
Tai Wesley, Utah State, F, 6-7, 240, Jr.
Second Team
Paul George, Fresno State, G/F, 6-8, 215, So.
Kyle Gibson, Louisiana Tech, G, 6-5, 205, Sr.
Magnum Rolle, Louisiana Tech, F/C, 6-11, 220, Sr.
Armon Johnson, Nevada, G, 6-3, 195, Jr.
Jonathan Gibson, New Mexico State, G, 6-1, 171, Sr.
We may be in the minority but PTW didn't envision the inclusion of both Quayle and Wesley on the first team ... it's hard to believe that Kyle Gibson didn't make the top team seeing as he earned a place on the All-Defensive squad while averaging 17.4 points per game. But in defense of the selections, Gibson's shooting numbers weren't all that impressive (.358% overall, .295% on treys) ... how strong is Wesley's case for First Team inclusion? He finished 14th in scoring, 11th in rebounding, third in field goal shooting percentage, seventh in assists, fourth in blocked shots and fourth is assist-to-turnover ratio (the only frontcourter in the top 15 ... Paul George's petering out as the season included invalidated his first team chances ... Mac Hopson's drop to Honorable Mention wasn't a shock considering the volatility of his play this season but can anyone claim this as forseen? ... it wasn't chosen but Pooh Williams is the WAC Defensive Player of the Year ... it's good news that four of the five First Team-ers return (theoretically at least).

I think the closest call was Quayle/Armon Johnson. Turnovers may well have cost AJ the first team selection. Tai's efficiency per possession numbers are the best in the WAC - slightly better than Babbitt's, while Luke had the better overall efficiency numbers (all according to BB State's stats). For that reason I can see having him on the first team, though that may have been a close call as well.
