Friday: four reports on last night's games, one game tonight

For some degree of Lone Star State supremacy, it was Texas Arlington hosting and beating Texas State 75-50. A five point halftime advantage ballooned with a 44-24 advantage Mavericks second 20 minutes. Forward Kevin Butler shot 4-7 from long distance and finished with a game-leading 21 points while fellow frontcourter Brandon Edwards corralled 11 boards. Reid Koenen paced the Bobcats with 12 points. Neither team shot over 40%: 39% for the victors, 23% for TS.

WAC frontrunner Louisiana Tech welcomed wagon-ed Texas San Antonio to the Bayou State and then proceeded to flatten the Roadrunners 74-49. Get this: no Bulldog scored more than 11 points, Michael Kyser didn't block a shot and LT shot 36%!! The top stat of the night was sophomore point Kenneth Smith being credited with nine assists versus zero turnovers. UTSA was accurate on just 30% of its shot attempts as Kannon Burrage paced the Roadrunners with both 15 points and seven boards.

So far in the night, shooting eyes and touches were definitely blurred and numb.

Fast Seattle versus methodic Denver became a 72-55 victory for the host Pioneers in a game producing very odd numbers. It was a night where UD shot 5-21 from three-point range and was out-rebounded by 10. However, Coach Joe Scott's squad must have enjoyed the 26 Redhawk turnovers as well as out attempting Seattle in shot attempts 54-36. Both teams shot well, 56% for the visitors, 50% for the D-men. Chris Udofia led the way with 23 points for the victors while guard Luiz Bidart topped Seattle with 14.

Idaho didn't find New Mexico State all that enchanting but it was mighty close -- a 76-74 Aggie victory as the hosts outscored the visitors by a single point in each half. Sim Bhuller shot 8-8 and led with 20 points and Bandja Sy collected 15 rebounds. NMSU shot 54% overall but just 12 free throws. Coach Don Verlin had a pair of 20+ points scorers: 26 for Kyle Barone and 21 from Connor Hill. The Vandals finished at 46% shooting.
