Earlier this week, Nevada basketball coach Mark Fox said he wants a complete team but pointed out Pack hasn't reached that goal yet. He said the team doesn't have one thing it can count on game in and game out at this point in the season, but "hopefully we get to a point where we can count on a bunch of aspects of the game." Here are five areas the Pack needs to improve upon if it wants to meet that goal, and extend its streak of Western Athletic Conference titles to six straight.
1. Get more easy baskets: Outside of the game against Div. II Sonoma State, Nevada is averaging only 22 points in the paint and five fastbreak points per game. Most of Nevada's points are coming off mid-range jump shots or 3-pointers. The Pack has done a good job of scoring off second-chance opportunities (13 per game) and from the free-throw line (16 makes per game), but needs to find consistent scoring in the paint so it doesn't have to rely on the jump shots falling...
