San Jose State falls to Santa Clara

Free throws. Make that missed free throws did in San Jose State. Oh and some guy named John Bryant.

Neither team was at its best. Not close to its best. San Jose State, coming off a nine-day break, looked out of sync. Santa Clara, coming off a trip from hell — five flights over two days to get home from Missoula, Mont. — looked weary.

The Broncos had the lead, lost it, regained it, lost it again and then mustered the energy to snatch it back in the final minutes and escape with a 59-56 victory Wednesday before an announced crowd of 2,046 at San Jose State's McPherson Court...

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
