Not the best of judgment and by seniors

No, this isn't WAC-related but still -- caught the last moments of the Florida - Arizona game Saturday night and what appeared on the screen at times was literally stunning.

Gator senior point Kenny Boynton, shooting 30% from long distance, hoisted up a trey attempt and also missed another three-point try 30 seconds earlier -- all in the last two minutes.

He also missed on the front end of a one-and-one with 21 seconds remaining despite being a 90% shooter at the foul line. But hey that happens. The badly-timed and not utilizing a strength three-point attempts didn't have to.

Arizona's Mark Lyons, another senior, hit a game-winning driving layup with seven seconds remaining but he too also cast off a trey attempt at the 1:25 mark when that shot wasn't necessary and with Florida's best and largest defender was on him.

Even the color commentator and Arizona alum Miles Simon gently noted that Lyons attempt wasn't what was drawn up in the huddle.

For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
