It's too bad Utah State's Marcel Davis wasn't named Aaron Burr (that would give him an historical edge), at least for purposes in this particular duel as it appears the best freshman newcomer honor is currently a two-player race between Davis and Alex Hamilton of Louisiana Tech.
In WAC play, the latter stands at 14.0 points alongside a 9/4 assists-to-turnover ratio. Hamilton is playing 24.7 minutes an outing and shooting 52%, 25% and 81% respectively. His rebounding is at 2.7 a contest and he is pilfering the ball once per game.
Davis is scoring 6.8 points and connecting at a 48% overall rate and 40% from long distance plus he is tops in the WAC in assists at 5.3 a contest plus 1.5 steals each time out. His assist-to-turnover ratio is 3.5 (21/6) and that also leads the WAC.
