Utah State did just enough and bewhiskered San Jose State University last night 66-60, powered by the hirsute one, Preston Medlin who scored a season high 25 points and passed for five assists. Spencer Butterfield went for 13 points while Kyisean Reed and Jarred Shaw totaled 12 apiece. Reed also grabbed eight rebounds, blocked four shots and passed for a pair of assists while Shaw's 10 boards earned him a double-double.
D.J. Brown led the Spartans with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Forward Chris Cunningham posted 15 points, eight boards and four assists and backcourter Xavier Jones added 14. James Kinney and Louis Garrett did not play due to team rules violations. USU shot 48% to 36% for SJSU which enjoyed a 20 shot advantage.
For the same reason, Kinney also missed the James Madison road game that the Spartan lost 77-68 -- not exactly an exhibition of senior leadership.
Kraig Williams and Kyle Goon live-tweeted the game.
