On the Save Mart Center message board at the Fresno State Scout site, tnsna has a post asking about the status of former Modesto Christian High/Kentucky point Michael Porter and if he is transferring to Fresno State?
With an upfront acknowledgment that we have no particular information on Porter, this doesn't seem likely to happen. Here's why?
An April 9, 2009 Jerry Tipton-penned article covers why Porter departed the Kentucky basketball squad when John Calipari took the reins. Read it here. Porter should be a college graduate now but it also appears he may have a season of athletic eligibility remaining.
This article says he did graduate and will be enrolling in graduate school (although it doesn't say where). It's penned by Larry Vaught and dated July 1, 2009.
But there has been no word of Porter being enrolled at Fresno State this academic year and the CSU Chancellor has determined no colleges and universities can accept mid-year transfers due to the budget crisis. So that leaves us asking how Porter -- even if he was so inclined -- could even be eligible, let alone, on the court next season for the Bulldogs?
