The Aggie men's basketball team was dealt their worst home loss in the 197-game series as UTEP handed the Aggies a 21-point loss, 79-58 on Tuesday night. The Miners jumped out to a 7-0 lead as the Aggies did not hit their first field goal until the 14:59 mark of the first half cutting the Miner lead to 11-4. LAS CRUCES — UTEP was a step quicker and a whole lot better than New Mexico State on Tuesday at the Pan American Center.
The Miners kept their record unblemished with a 79-58 victory over the Aggies. UTEP scored the first nine points of the game and led by as many as 27 in the second half to send the Aggies into another rivalry game at New Mexico on Saturday with a 2-4 start.
"We are not playing with the type of passion that we need and it falls on me," Aggies coach Marvin Menzies said. "I don't blame the kids at all. Unfortunately after playing progressively better after our first game, we took a step back tonight..."
Jason Groves also has a blog entry on the contest.

Lackadaisical defensively and out of sync on offense, Fresno State saw its losing streak grow to four games in a 70-58 loss to University of the Pacific before an announced 7,506 at Selland Arena...
Matt James/Fresno Bee offers a history lesson here.
Jagdip Dhillon of the Stockton Record provides his game writeup -- Pacific was missing two players due to suspension, one a starting backcourter.
