We don't believe in such things as hexes nor that a person or team or coach or school is jinxed. But (and isn't such a sentence 99.9% of the time followed with such a conjunction) folks at and supporting New Mexico State has to be wondering about such.
A new head football coach is hired, one from a prominent university, a brand new recruiting class is announced and all is upbeat.
Then this occurs.
NMSU basketball player arrested at EP airport
Las Cruces Sun-News report
2/05/2009
New Mexico State University freshman guard Terrance Joyner was suspended indefinitely on Wednesday.
According to El Paso County jail records, Joyner posted a $300 bond at the El Paso County Jail on Wednesday after he was charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces. A local news station in El Paso reported that Joyner was arrested at the El Paso International Airport.
Attempts to reach Aggies head coach Marvin Menzies were unsuccessful.
The Aggies are in Logan, Utah for a Thursday game against Utah State... Go here for the remainder.
Of course, this in no way reflects on Aggie football but that's not the point. The reason we are presenting this turn of events in such a fashion is it seems there is a curse of some sorts hovering over NMSU -- positive news having its luster quickly reduced by something adverse. AAArrrggghhh.
