The Aggies are who we thought they were.

Or at least where I thought they would be.

The New Mexico State University men's basketball team passed the halfway point in the Western Athletic Conference at 5-4 after winning home games over the weekend against San Jose State and Hawaii.

The Aggies sit in fourth place in the conference standings with second place within earshot.

WAC coaches picked the Aggies third in the preseason and yours truly picked them fourth, but even I couldn't have predicted how the first half would play out. But more on that a little later.

One player I knew would have an impact is Aggies sophomore guard Jahmar Young...
