As the Aggie men’s basketball team heads into the second round of WAC play, I want to share my observations what has been revealed about the league to this point. It is clear the Utah State has taken a big leap forward with its program. Twenty-six year old forward Gary Wilkinson has playing well, but the real boost to Stew Morrill’s program has come from Tai Wesley. Wesley has gone from a talented, but green freshman to a poised sophomore whose skills have freed up Wilkinson to play even better.
Nevada had a slow start in the non-conference play but seems to be rounding into the second-best team in the league. Mark Fox knows how to build a team and has forged a top freshman recruit in Luke Babbitt into his upper class mix of Brandon Fields and Armon Johnson and other newcomers to play the hard nosed game he likes. After those two teams, things get a little hazy... Go here for the remainder.
