Our intent is not to upset Hawaii fans but this morning seems like the calm before the storm, what with four quarterfinal games to be played today and tonight. Let's hope an upset or two livens things up although a Nevada - Utah State finale -- a fight for the one WAC entrance pass into the Big Dance -- is a matchup we would love to watch...
...We're going to use another well-worn phrase in describing how the WAC coach of the year and the league MVP are chosen: to the victor go the spoils. It's not just in the WAC and we may not agree with such a sentiment but winning carries weight...
...If Sylvester Seay, Paul George and Dwight O'Neill can each shoot well then the Bulldogs have a chance to stay with Utah State...heck, if Steve Cleveland wins this one then the rail that many fans have been wishing to ride him out of town on would immediately turn into a golden throne heading in the opposite direction...
...Just a question: will both New Mexico State and Boise State each top 100 points?...
...Who will score the most -- Louisiana Tech or Idaho -- in what figures to be a grind-it-out, low-scoring affair...
...Here's Chadd Cripe/Idaho Statesman with a Mac "he can't shoot" Hopson feature containing some nice history. Although he isn't quoted directly, Coach Don Verlin is described as believing Hopson should have been named the WAC POY...
...Watch out if Boise State is focused per Nick Jezierny/Idaho Statesman...
...You know Mark Fox will not let his squad come into their game against San Jose State already thinking about the next opponent...
