Record: 26-4, 13-2
Last week’s rank: 1
Last game: Lost to Nevada, 84-71, in Reno
Next: Saturday vs. San Jose State

Comment: The at-large bubble might be bursting for Utah State, which has dropped three of its last five games and has only one win over a team with a top-75 RPI. Of course, win the WAC Tournament and it’s all moot.

2. Nevada
Record: 17-11, 9-5
Last week’s rank: 2
Last game: Beat Utah State, 84-71, in Reno
Next: Thursday vs. San Jose State

Comment: The Wolf Pack used Utah State’s formula for success this season to knock of the Aggies on Saturday (shoot 50-plus percent from the field; limit your turnovers; out-rebound your opponent)...

11/01/08: LOUISIANA TECH UPDATE: "Kevin McCarthy over at Parsing the WAC, an excellent source of WAC basketball news, was contacted by somebody familiar with the recent departure of four Louisiana Tech basketball players (which we touched on last week). For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
