A in-depth feature on Boise State's Mark Sanchez

Use basketball, don't let it use you.

The word 'use' is not meant in any pejorative sense here. The definition we are employing is to achieve success in all the avenues a college basketball scholarship offers -- and Mark Sanchez has done just that. Being the first in his family to be a college graduate resonates since we are in that same situation. Is there anyone who doesn't want this young man to succeed? Anyone with a heart still operating?

Mark Sanchez was disappointed, but not all that surprised when he opened up the Tucson Citizen on March 23, 2005.

Not only did the Desert View power forward who averaged 18.5 points per game his senior season for coach Juan Rojas' Jaguars not make the newspaper's first-team boys basketball all-star team, he didn't make the cut for second- or third-team honors...

For those who don't know, Drew Washington, Dwayne Lathan, Orrim Tims and Brandon Mims were dismissed after meeting with coach Kerry Rupp two weeks ago. Lathan said he was blindsided by the decision. McCarthy’s source, who remained anonymous, said there was more to the story than met the eye."
