The band Queen is famous for the unintended sports anthem "Another One Bites The Dust." But we're waiting, somewhat impatiently, for a band to release "Another One Gets A Ride" because Eureka's Greg Allen is the latest Northern California prep baller to land a Division I basketball scholarship.
The 6-foot-2 Allen decided over the weekend to cast his lot with the Idaho Vandals of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). It’s a program that loses three backcourters to graduation at this season’s end and three more the following year so early opportunity will be present for Allen.
But it was how he was treated that spoke the most to Allen. "The Idaho coaches were the ones who took the time, went to my school and talked with my counselor and coach," Allen said.
